VALORANT August 2026: Abyss returns and Premier gets a shorter sprint

Act 5 swapped Abyss for Breeze and ran a five-week PC Premier stage with September playoffs.

TGN host looks toward Abyss-in and Breeze-out map cards above a five-week Premier calendar.

Backlog report, updated 14 October 2026. Riot’s 13.04 was a deliberately smaller Act 5 patch. Abyss returned to Competitive and Deathmatch while Breeze left. On PC, Premier Stage V26A5 began on 18 August and ran for five weeks rather than the usual seven; standard teams needed at least 450 Premier Score for 20 September playoffs, while Contender and Invite used placement. Riot also fixed agent and stability issues, including a Clove ability-switching freeze.

The TGN read

A quiet patch can still change a team’s calendar. One fewer week of room for mistakes means Premier squads need their availability and map prep sorted early. The Abyss-for-Breeze swap also changes what you practice, so do not spend the week rehearsing clever Breeze lineups and then look surprised at the queue. Long term, the smaller release made room for September’s larger systems overhaul. That is sensible pacing if Riot uses the breathing space to polish what comes next.
