VALORANT September 2026: Agent Mastery and the biggest ranked rethink

September brought tool-use penalties, a new lobby, Agent Mastery, Gauntlet: Glitched and Performance Score in place of ACS for MVPs.

TGN host examines an illustrated ranked-results dashboard contrasting ACS with Performance Score and an Agent Mastery path.

Backlog report, updated 14 October 2026. Patch 13.05 prepared Champions Shanghai Pick’Ems and announced penalties for detected stream-sniping and instalock tools. It also signalled a change to Agent Gear progression. Patch 13.06 delivered the larger reset: a combined Home and Lobby, Agent Mastery, the 2v2 Gauntlet: Glitched mode, Practice Range access during supported queues, the Warden and a revamped end-of-game flow. Competitive and Premier MVP and scoreboard placement began using a 0–500 Performance Score, which Riot says includes contributions beyond damage and kills. The Range-in-queue feature later had a known issue, so check current client status before relying on it.

The TGN read

The strategic promise is better feedback. If a support player buys space, survives the right moment and sets up the round, the end screen should tell a fuller story than “congratulations, the Duelist shot more people.” Performance Score is only useful if players can understand why it moved. Agent Mastery could give the grind a longer arc, while Gauntlet has the potential to turn utility experiments into actual learning. It also has the potential to produce eight duos with absolutely no plan. Both are content.
